Akufo-Addo mourns the death of President Mills

Whilst on a campaign tour of the Evalue Gwira constituency in the Western Region this afternoon, I heard the sad news of the death of the President of the Republic, H E Prof John Evans Atta Mills.

I have decided to suspend immediately the rest of my campaign tour until further notice.

I express my condolences to the First Lady, Madam Naadu Mills and the rest of the family.

I extend my condolences to the government and people of Ghana on the death of the President, and also to the National Democratic Congress party on the loss of their leader.

I call on all Ghanaians to stand united in this moment of national loss and grief.

I pray to the Almighty that he gives his soul a peaceful place of abode.

May he rest in peace.

HISTORY OF FREEMASON

Baphomet, the symbol of the satanic goat, usually portrayed as a half human, half goat figure, or a goat head. It is often misinterpreted as a symbol of witch-craft in general. It is used by Satanists, but is not used by neo-pagan witches who do not worship the devil.
The origin of the Baphomet is unclear. It may be a corruption of Muhomet (Mohammed). The english witchcraft historian Montague Summers suggested that it was a combination of two greek words, baphe and metis, meaning "absorption of knowledge." Baphomet has also been called the Goat of Mendes, The Black Goat and the Judas Goat.
In the middle ages the Baphomet was believed to be an idol, represented by a human skull, a stuffed humans head or a metal or wooden human head with curly black hair. The idol was said to be worshipped by the Order of Knights Templar as the source of fertility and wealth. In 1307 King Phillip IV of France accused the Order of the Knights Templar of heresy, homosexuality and among other things, worshipping this idol and anointing it with the fat of murdered children. However, only 12 of the 231 knights interrogated by the church admitted worshipping or having knowledge of the Baphomet. Novices said they had been instructed to worship the idol as their god and savior, and their descriptions of it varied: it had up to three heards and up to four feet; it was made of either wood or metal, or was a painting, sometimes it was a gift.
In 1818 a number of idols called heads of Baphomet were discovered among forgotten antiquities of the imperial museum of Vienna. They were said to be replicas of the Gnostic divinity, Mete, or "Wisdom."
Perhaps the best-known representation of Baphomet is the drawing by the 19th century French magician, Eliphas Levi, called "The Baphomet of Mendes." Levi combined elements of the tarot devil card and the he-goat worshipped in antiquity in Mendes, Egypt, which was said to fornicate with its women followers ( as the church claimed the devil did with witches). Levi's Baphomet has a human trunk with rounded, female breasts, a caduceus in the midriff, human arms and hands, cloven feet, wings and a goat's head with a pentagram in the forehead and a torch on top of the skull between the horns. The attributes, Levi said, represented the sum total of the universe - intelligence, the four elements, divine revelation, sex and motherhood and sin and redemption. Hite and black crescent moons at the figure's side represent good and evil.

Blacks Stars In Clean Bill Of Health Ahead Of Botswana Opener

Goran Stevanovic insists he is operating a 100 percent fit camp ahead of Ghana’s Group D opener with Botswana on Tuesday.

The Black Stars, touted as one of the tournament favourites are in the hunt to end a 30-year wait for an African title and thus will need all players operating at optimum level.

And this, the Serbian trainer confirmed at a pre-match press conference on the Monday has not only been achieved but taken further with the soaring motivation in camp.

“Everything is ok, everybody is ready to start,” he said.

“The motivation is so high that everyone would even like to play with one leg, I am sure of that but fortunately we have everything for today.”

North Korea staged a huge funeral in the capital

SEOUL (Reuters) - The world watched anxiously on Wednesday as North Korea staged a huge funeral in the capital, Pyongyang, for former leader Kim Jong-il, searching for signs of what to expect from the isolated nation that may be close to attaining nuclear weapons capacity. Bleak pictures from state television showed a funeral cortege led by a limousine carrying a huge picture of the 69-year old, who died on December 17, passing serried ranks of olive green-clad soldiers whose bare heads were bowed in homage in the main square of the snow-covered capital. .

Agyemfra House, Benkum School

Agyemfra House, Benkum School
After Bizarro had calmed Benji down, we drove a few kilometres along the Mamfe road, to see the Benkum Senior High School – one of the best in the nation, with more than 1300 students, two thirds of them girls. The point of our visit was to see Agyemfra House (for girls) named after Nana. Another link was that my one-time neighbour, Dr Asiedu Ofei, had a science building at the school named after him. We met Danso Wilson, a friendly  teacher who had been there for six years and who was glad to show us around. He told us that the boys were dominated by the girls and consequently did not try hard, except in the science subjects. Students apply for admission to the schools of their choice after their junior high school results come out; the government allocates places but students may request a change.
We were cordially welcomed by the two assistant headmasters – one for administration and one for academic matters. Education remains a high priority, as indeed it is throughout the world, for students and their parents. I was proudly told that Larteh now has six fully-enrolled high schools: three are managed by churches, (Presbyterian, Anglican and Methodist) but funded by the government, and another is Peace and Love private school. In the 1960s, there was only the middle school.
We drove on to Mampong, to see the Centre for Scientific Research on Traditional Medicine (CSRTM), where Stephen, a pharmacist who had been there for twenty-five years, showed us the impressive herbarium, where over a thousand indigenous plants have been analysed. In contrast to the approach to traditional medicines that I had seen in other African countries, CSRTM was rigorously scientific. The staff were all well trained and they did not hesitate to use orthodox medications if traditional remedies did not help; they sell many traditional medicines at a low cost. The whole scene was most impressive, clean and orderly, with an air of efficiency and compassion – in stark contrast to so many medical facilities in Africa . As we were leaving, a small boy, four or five years old and impeccably dressed in white, said, in perfect English, “Please will you tie my shoes?” Bizarro obliged him.
